May 10, 2024Guide: How to join the ARTUS collectors community
We are more than just a swimwear brand. We are an exclusive NFT-based art collector community that prints art on swim trunks to empower artists (see ARTUS Whitepaper). To get access to our special swimwear, you need to become part of our community by getting one of our NFTs.
To drive Blockchain mass adoption, we make it as simple as possible and provide a step-by-step guide for you to start your blockchain adventure even if you are no tech expert (yet).
Today, you can still get (mint) one of the first 333 NFTs on https://artusgallery.com/cognoscenti. Once they are all distributed, you will need to buy the NFT from another community member.
To mint an NFT, you need a crypto wallet. If you already have one, you can jump to part III of this guide. If you are new to crypto and first need a wallet, keep reading.

I: Set up a crypto wallet
To mint an NFT, you need a crypto wallet that helps you buy, store and sell your cryptocurrency and NFTs. There are many providers of such wallets. In this guide, we use Metamask. To setup the wallet, please follow the steps below:
- go to https://metamask.io
- click “Download” & follow the instructions. Read the instructions carefully and watch all the videos (they are good!). Add and install Metamask in your browser and agree to the terms and conditions to create a new wallet
- secure your wallet with the recovery phrase.

II: Fill your wallet
You now have an empty wallet. To use it to mint your NFT, you need money on it. As with any wallet, you can fill it with all kinds of currencies. To mint a Cognoscenti NFT, you will need Ethereum (ETH).
To put ETH on your wallet, you can either share your address (0x….) to receive from someone, or buy from a provider with FIAT currency (e.g. EUR / USD). To buy ETH yourself, go to your wallet, click “buy”, make sure your on Ethereum Mainnet and Chose “Debit or Credit”. Then chose your paying method (e.g. mercury that allows you to pay without registering with your Credit card). Follow the process and – congratulations, you have your first ETH tokens in your wallet!
Please note, there may be rather high fees when you buy Crypto with your Credit card. Should you plan to buy bigger amounts, please inform yourself on how to reduce those fees.
III: Get your NFT
To mint your NFT, go to https://artusgallery.com/cognoscenti. Scroll down to “Not yet a Cognoscenti?” and click on the “Connect wallet” button to start the minting process. Then, chose your wallet and sign the mint. Once your NFT is minted, you will see them in your wallet. If they do not appear, please allow MetaMask to automatically detect and display your NFTs. Currently, our NFTs are for free and we allow max. 3 per wallet. Minting will cause transaction fees (“Gas”) that you will need to pay.
IV: prove your membership
Once you have your NFT in your wallet, you may connect your wallet on the Cognoscenti page to prove your membership. You will get a confirmation and code that you can use in the checkout when buying swimwear.
